Bidders for operations of the Oak Ridge Transuranic Waste Processing facility will likely get a Thanksgiving reprieve, as the Department of Energy says it plans to extend the proposal due date from Dec. 1 to “at least” Dec. 11, according to a DOE notice. The Department plans to issue a formal amendment extending the proposal due date soon. “DOE appreciates your continued interest in this procurement and further appreciates your patience while we finalize the first amendment and responses to your questions,” the notice states. It comes as DOE has released bidder questions and answers to the final RFP, available here.
The TWPC is used to prepare contact- and remote-handled transuranic waste at Oak Ridge for off-site disposal, and is currently being operated by incumbent Wastren Advantage, Inc. The new contract for operations is being set aside for small businesses that meet $38.5 million size standard, and is expected to be worth $100 million to 300 million. It is set to run for up to five years, consisting of a three-year base period and one two-year option period.
