Hill Air Force Base, Utah, will host an industry day for the Air Force’s Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent acquisition program from Sept. 24 to 25, according to an Aug. 20 FedBizOpps posting. The GBSD Program Management Office (PMO) intends to hold a more “in-depth technical discussion” and provide acquisition updates since the last industry day in February. This will be the third GBSD industry day. “The GBSD Program Management Office continues to encourage open and frequent communication from industry during the ongoing market research phase. The PMO expects to release another round of RFI questions in August,” the posting states. The Air Force plans to release a request for information for the GBSD before the industry day, and on or after industry day intends to distribute a draft capabilities development document, draft force development concept, draft weapon system specification, and draft statement of work. The Air Force did not respond to a NS&D Monitor request for comment this week.
The Air Force will replace the Minuteman 3’s “entire flight system,” retain the silo basing mode while recapitalizing the ground facilities, and plans to implement a new command and control system, according to the announcement. The industry day will include a briefing period, breakout sessions, and one-on-one meetings.
