NNSA to put security services into Nevada prime contract as sunset approaches on SOC deal

By ExchangeMonitor

The National Nuclear Security Administration plans to add protective services to its prime contract with the Nevada National Security Site’s Honeywell-led prime contract, according to a procurement note posted online recently.

SOC is the incumbent security services provider at the former Nevada Test Site under a five-year deal, worth about $200-million, that began on March 1, 2018 and was set to expire on Jan. 29, 2023.

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) on Aug. 4 posted a sole-source notice about the pending award to site prime Mission Support and Test Services (MSTS), which in addition to Honeywell includes team members Jacobs Engineering Group and Huntington Ingalls Industries.

MSTS’ contract to manage the Nevada National Security Site for NNSA began in 2017 and, with options, could run a decade and cost the agency a little under $4.5 billion. The contract’s five year base period runs through Nov. 30. The contract includes five one-year options.
