Amentum, the Maryland-based successor to AECOM’s Management Services branch, on Wednesday named longtime industry manager Tom Foster as chief operating officer of its Nuclear & Environment business unit.
Foster has more than 35 years of experience in the nuclear industry, from decommissioning to operations, according to a company press release. Most recently, he was president and project manager at the Amentum-led Savannah River Remediation joint venture that oversees waste management at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina.
Formed in January when two New York investment firms completed their purchase of the former AECOM government contracting business, Amentum does not currently list a COO on the management section of its website.
As Amentum COO for Nuclear and Environment, Forster will oversee Energy Department contracts in high-level radioactive waste management, demolition, and remediation at Cold War nuclear facilities in the U.S. and similar international operations in Asia, Europe, and Canada.
“Tom has an excellent domestic and international reputation in the nuclear and waste management business. His accomplishments at the U.S. DOE’s Savannah River and Hanford sites and the United Kingdom’s Sellafield nuclear site indicate his exceptional pedigree for this important role in our company,” Amentum CEO John Vollmer said in the release.
