Prime cleanup contractors at Hanford and Oak Ridge are gearing up to put out new subcontracts for bid in the next several weeks. CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Co. expects to issue a Request for Proposals “on or about” the week of April 23 for a new subcontract to provide interim safe storage of Hanford’s 105-KE Reactor, according to an expressions of interest issued March 9. The subcontract is anticipated to be firm fixed-price, with work to begin in August 2012 and be completed by May 2014. The procurement will be open to large and small businesses, though “strong preference” will be given to small businesses, according to the expressions of interest notice. Responses to the expressions of interest are due by March 27. CHPRC expects proposals to be due “on or about” the week of May 18, with an award decision anticipated in mid-July. At Oak Ridge, URS-CH2M Oak Ridge, LLC, late last week issued prequalification criteria for an anticipated small business subcontract for construction, decontamination and decommissioning and remedial action services. Companies interested must respond by March 21, and UCOR expects to release a Request for Proposal in April followed by award in May. The contract is expected to run through July 2013 with up to three one-year options. Also last week, UCOR released prequalification criteria for Radon and IH instrumentation calibration and repair services with responses are due March 27, followed by a RFP in April.
