The Department of Energy has begun soliciting information to see if the planned follow-on technical and administrative support services contract for the Carlsbad Field Office can be set-aside for small businesses. Late this week, DOE issued a request for information notice seeking capability statements from interested companies. Support services to be provided under the new contract include quality assurance (QA), audits and assessments, safety, security, Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) site operations, environmental and regulatory compliance, scientific and international programs, transuranic (TRU) waste characterization and certification, TRU waste transportation and packaging, general business operations, information technology, and technical support, according to DOE. Incumbent contractor Portage’s contract expires in January 2015. Responses are due by Aug. 12.
