The Energy Department said Thursday it has pulled the trigger on the final two options of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions’ management and operations contract for the Savannah River Site near Aiken, S.C., keeping the partnership on the job for almost two more years of work.
The options just exercised are the last two on the deal and cover the full range of operations at the facility from Oct. 1 through July 31, 2018. Savannah River Nuclear Solutions stands to nab about $84 million in fees under the options DOE has picked up.
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions is a partnership of Fluor Corp., Stoller Newport News Nuclear, and Honeywell International. DOE awarded the conglomerate its 10-year management and operations contract on Jan. 10, 2008. The base contract was worth $4 billion, and five years worth of options bring the total of pact to roughly $8 billion through July 2018, DOE wrote in its Thursday press release.
