DOE EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR MLLW AND SNF TRANSPORT SOLICITATIONS

By ExchangeMonitor
The deadline to respond to a Sources Sought Synopsis/Request For Information related to the treatment of low-level radioactive waste and mixed low-level waste by the Department of Energy has been extended by a week. The previous deadline was April 28, but the new deadline will be May 5, according to a modification to the Sources Sought Synopsis posted late last week on the FedBizOpps website. The current set of Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contracts for waste treatment services ends next year in June, and this notice begins the planning stages for a follow-on procurement. “DOE is seeking interested parties that have the specialized capabilities, or will soon have the specialized capabilities, required to accept, store, repackage, and treat DOE waste types,” the original notice said. Interested companies are asked to submit a 20-page capability statement to be assessed by DOE.

DOE-Idaho has also extended a Sources Sought notice to transport spent nuclear fuel from non-commercial research reactors to the Idaho National Laboratory. DOE is seeking information to determine the possible availability of small businesses to perform the planned contract. The original due date for capability statements was May 5, but that date has been extended to May 12.
