DOE OFFICIALLY EXTENDS BOEING’S CONTRACT AT ETEC

By ExchangeMonitor
The Department of Energy, as expected, has extended for another three years Boeing’s contract to provide landlord services at the Energy Technology Engineering Center (ETEC) site in California while decisions are made on the future cleanup of the site. The extension, which will run through Sept. 30, 2014, is valued at $38.5 million. During the extension, “Boeing will continue groundwater monitoring, site-wide activities and security services, and to safely maintain and monitor the ETEC site during the period required for DOE to complete the Environmental Impact Statement and Record of Decision for Area IV of the Santa Susana Field Laboratory and beyond until cleanup is achieved,” Bill Taylor, a spokesman for the DOE Office of Environmental Management’s Consolidated Business Center, said in a written response yesterday. He added, “Boeing has performed under contract with DOE since 1998. Extending the contract represented the best value to the government.”
