The Department of Energy plans by the end of August to release a draft request for proposals to replace the contract now held by Mission Support Alliance for services at the Hanford Site in Washington state. The new Hanford mission essential services contractor would provide site services, security and emergency operations, land management, information technology services, and management of the HAMMER training facility.
The contractor would maintain and upgrade infrastructure, including electric, water, and road systems, according to a DOE announcement. It would be responsible for building infrastructure to support the Waste Treatment Plant. It also would have a new assignment, providing assistance to DOE in the solicitation and administration of DOE’s small business prime contracts.
The contract would sustain a strong focus on infrastructure at Hanford, DOE said: “With this proposed contract, DOE plans to initiate and complete a number of infrastructure upgrades, support the critical startup of the high level Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant, and maintain the Hanford Site infrastructure to support the next 50 years of operations and cleanup.”
Mission Support Alliance’s current contract is valued at about $3 billion and will expire after a decade on May 25, 2019. The contractor is a partnership of Leidos, Jacobs, and Centerra Group.
The Energy Department expects to conduct a pre-solicitation conference, site tour, and industry one-on-one sessions, likely next month. A home page has been set up for the pending contract award on the website for DOE’s Environmental Management Consolidated Business Center. Questions can be submitted to [email protected].
