HOUSE LAWMAKERS REINTRODUCE MANHATTAN PROJECT NAT’L PARK BILL

By ExchangeMonitor

A group of House lawmakers reintroduced legislation late last week to establish a Manhattan Project National Park. The bill would direct that the park be established within one year, and consists of facilities at Hanford, Oak Ridge and the Los Alamos National Laboratory. “The Manhattan Project is a significant chapter in America’s history. The establishment of this park will ensure that this history is preserved and that facilities, such as Hanford’s B Reactor, will remain open and accessible for future generations to visit. I’ll continue to work with advocates in these local communities, as well as with my colleagues in both the House and the Senate, towards the goal of getting this bill enacted into law,” House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (R-Wash.), one of the bill’s sponsors, said in a statement. The bill’s other sponsors include Reps. Chuck Fleischmann (R-Tenn.) and Ben Lujan (D-N.M.).
