Consolidated Nuclear Security, the new Y-12/Pantex management and operating contractor, plans to extend job offers to existing employees starting April 15, CNS President Jim Haynes said in a message to employees yesterday. With the Bechtel-led contractor moving into its fourth week of transition, Haynes outlined a series of coming milestones in addition to the schedule for offering jobs to existing employees. He said CNS would participate in a post-contract award conference next week to “obtain clarification of NNSA expectations going forward” and would deliver a high-level staffing plan to the agency for review and approval April 2. “The staffing plan will provide our proposed number of employees in CNS and our plans for moving forward with offers,” Haynes wrote.
In mid-May, the contractor said it would provide details on benefits plans to employees. “While we have much to do, we will remain focused on you, our future colleagues, as our top priority,” Haynes wrote. “We may also ask for your help to complete many of these tasks. And we will continue to strive to get you the information you need just as soon as we can. In the meantime, senior management and I will continue to be a presence at Pantex and Y-12 and look forward to interacting with you.” CNS is expected to complete transition and take over responsibility for Y-12 and Pantex July 1.
