NRC to Discuss Waste, Regulatory Trends

By ExchangeMonitor

In the 2019 fiscal year, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) almost met its security strategic goal but not quite.

According to a powerpoint published on the commission’s website ahead of a Wednesday oversight meeting, a “single event” caused the NRC to miss the goal that year.

Commissioners are set to discuss the missed goal and other regulatory trends and changes, as well as operating reactors and new reactor business lines, in a livestream meeting at 9:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday.

Kevin Williams, a director in the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, will speak about material and waste performance trends, and Chris Miller, the director of reactor oversight, will discuss regulatory inspection trends.

The meeting can be viewed here.
