Madelyn Creedon is returning to the National Nuclear Security Administration. President Obama yesterday announced his intent to nominate Creedon as the NNSA’s principal deputy administrator, marking her return to an agency she played a role in creating. Creedon served as the Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs at the NNSA from 2000 to 2001 and was the Associate Deputy Energy Secretary from 1995 to 1997. She most recently served as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Global Strategic Affairs, a position she took in 2011 after her third stint as a Democratic staffer on the Senate Armed Services Committee. Creedon would replace Neile Miller, who left the NNSA earlier this year. While she is not expected to face any real issues in being confirmed, she would be the subject of a broad hold placed on President Obama’s nominees by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) over information about the Benghazi attacks.
