SAVANNAH RIVER REMEDIATION TO CUT UP TO 100 POSITIONS

By ExchangeMonitor

Savannah River Remediation is planning to reduce its workforce by up to 100 positions, the company announced yesterday. While the Savannah River Site’s liquid waste contractor is offering employees the chance to participate in voluntary separations between now and Nov. 18, it noted that those could be followed by involuntary layoffs. “SRR has accomplished much since taking over as the SRS Liquid Waste contractor in July 2009. However, as some projects come to a close and budgets continue to be reduced, we have to realign our workforce to ensure we have the right skills on the right jobs,” SRR President and Project Manager Dave Olson said in a letter to employees yesterday. If less than 100 employees leave during the self-selection phase this month, the contractor may undertake involuntary layoffs in December. This is the second round of workforce reductions for SRR this year, after 99 employees participated in a self-select program in June.
