Here are some events related to defense- and civilian-nuclear matters that the Exchange Monitor staff is tracking this week.

August:

07: Start of the second special session of the Texas legislature, to include debate of radioactive waste handling in the state. The legislature was set to gavel back in on Monday, Aug. 09.

09: Final bids due for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s next joint management and operations contract for the Pantex Plant and the Y-12 National Security Complex. Bechtel National, BWX Technologies and Fluor are leading separate bids.

NEW: Via public records request, I’ve been able to confirm reporting today that a warrant has been issued for DOE deputy asst. secretary of spent fuel and waste disposition Sam Brinton for another luggage theft, this time at Las Vegas’s Harry Reid airport. (cc: @EMPublications)
