IN THE 2016 ELECTION

Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton voiced her opposition late last week to Yucca Mountain, according to an interview she gave with the Reno Gazette-Journal. Clinton has long opposed the project going as far back to her initial presidential run in 2008, and she re-voiced those concerns. “I have opposed sending nuclear waste to Yucca Mountain, based on what I know today and based on what I understand about the geological formation and I am still opposed,” Clinton said. “It would be the position I am most comfortable taking at this time.” Other candidates seeking their party nominations have been across the board on Yucca Mountain. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) supports the project, while Jeb Bush has opposed the project.
