AREVA Awarded UK Decommissioning Contract

By ExchangeMonitor
AREVA will provide engineering services for nuclear site decommissioning across the United Kingdom nuclear complex, the company announced yesterday. Working with the UK’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority Shared Service Alliance, AREVA will provide work across twelve sites throughout the UK managed by the decommissioning company Magnox Ltd as well as the nuclear site at Dounreay in Northern Scotland, Radioactive Waste Management Limited’s site in Harwell and the Low-Level Waste Repository in West Cumbria, the company said. “This agreement confirms our engagement to contribute to future decommissioning projects for nuclear sites other than Sellafield, where our company is already active,” said Guillaume Dureau, Senior Executive Vice President of AREVA’s Back End Business Group, in a statement. “With this new agreement, AREVA, a historic partner with the British nuclear industry, continues to expand its engineering activities in the United Kingdom.” Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
