The Army Corps of Engineers began gearing up for the next phase of the Uranium Processing Facility project yesterday, releasing a presolicitation notice for site infrastructure and services on the multi-billion-dollar effort. The work, which is set aside for a service-disabled veteran-owned small business, includes design of a site layout play for trailers and laydown areas, demolition and removal of existing infrastructure, the excavation of a hill near Building 9107, site grading activities, the installation of storm water and sanitary sewer structures, and erosion and sediment control.
The government said it will use a best value trade-off source selection to award a firm-fixed price contract, likely between $5 and $10 million. A solicitation is expected to be released in mid-February, with a pre-proposal conference/site visit 14 days after the release of the solicitation. Proposals will be due about 45 days after the release of the solicitation, the Army Corps said. The Army Corps is managing pre-construction work on the project for the National Nuclear Security Administration through an interagency agreement.
