FBP Resumes Off-Site Waste Shipments Halted Due to NDA Program Issues

WC Monitor

Fluor-B&W Portsmouth, LLC, the D&D contractor for the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant, this week resumed shipments of waste off-site for disposal that had been impacted by the contractor’s recent pause to its non-destructive assay program. FBP halted its NDA program in late May after an assessment identified potential quality concerns—a move that impacted the contractor’s ability to ship off-site for disposal equipment removed from one of the Portsmouth plant’s three former enrichment process buildings. FBP has completed the majority of corrective actions planned in response to the assessment, and resumed waste shipments earlier this week, according to contractor spokesman Jeff Wagner. In a written response late this week, Wagner said, “I can say as of Monday, June 23 component shipments and NDA measuring have resumed and we have completed the majority of corrective actions associated with our internal stand down.”
