At Savannah River

By Chris Schneidmiller

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions Selects New COO

The management contractor for the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site on Tuesday announced the selection of a new chief operations officer and executive vice president. Dave Eyler takes over for Fred Dohse, who earlier this summer announced that he would retire from Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS). Eyler has worked for SRNS since June 2011, most recently as senior vice president and deputy director for the Savannah River Nuclear Laboratory. He also served in the U.S. Navy, including as director of maintenance and modernization for the Atlantic submarine force, and with the Department of Energy and Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board. He will take over “direct responsibility for National Nuclear Security Administration Programs, Environmental Management Operations, Engineering and the Employee Concerns Program at SRS and will ensure the safe, secure and disciplined operations of SRNS facilities,” according to a company press release.

Meanwhile, the Savannah River National Laboratory on Tuesday said its F/H Analytical Laboratories have received ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, which recognizes “the competence of testing and calibration laboratories” at an international level. The F/H labs for over six decades have delivered analytical, radiometric, and environmental monitoring for the Savannah River Site and other clients, according to a press release. This includes analyses of radiological and nonradiological material for “process control, product quality, environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, nuclear material accountability, and nuclear criticality safety,” the release states.
