The U.S. Senate has confirmed David Beck as deputy administrator for defense programs at the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).
Beck was confirmed as part of a large bloc of Donald Trump administration nominees. NNSA announced Beck’s confirmation in a Thursday social media post.
“Beck has over 40 years of experience in the nuclear weapons complex and previously served as NNSA assistant deputy administrator for military applications and stockpile operations,” according to the Thursday notice that appeared on the X social media platform.
The vote agreeing to considering the nominees as a group passed Thursday afternoon in a 52-to-47 vote, according to a Senate website.
Most recently Beck has been serving as a vice president for Bechtel-led Consolidated Nuclear Security at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Beck testified in front of the Senate Armed Services Committee in October, on the heels of Trump announcing his interest in having the United States resume nuclear weapons testing.
Beck was nominated by Trump in April.
