Bid(s) Due for NNSA Kansas City Contract Today

By ExchangeMonitor
Bids are due today for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Kansas City National Security Campus, and industry officials expect only one company to submit a proposal: incumbent contractor Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies. Honeywell was the only company to send representatives to a preproposal conference and site tour last month, fueling speculation that the NNSA might not get more than one bid for the Kansas City contract. A strong emphasis on past performance, a lack of technical approach required in the Request for Proposals, and a focus on nuclear manufacturing in the RFP has appeared to dissuade companies from bidding for the contract, though industry officials didn’t discount the possibility that a company could engineer a “stealth” bid. That possibility, however, was called “remote” by one industry official following the procurement.
