BPC Schedules Second Nuclear Waste Forum

By ExchangeMonitor
The Bipartisan Policy Center announced yesterday the date of its latest meeting to identify barriers and obstacles hindering the progress of the nation’s high-level radioactive waste disposal program. The Sept. 5 meeting will take place in Atlanta at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and it will feature two panels of experts, business leaders, academics, and policymakers discussing problems and potential solutions to deal with the nation’s nuclear waste. The BPC’s project, named “America’s Nuclear Future: Taking Action to Address Nuclear Waste,” aims to expand the conversation on implementable nuclear waste solutions to a more national and regional audience by identifying barriers to implementing a waste management strategy. It has already hosted a meeting back in June at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where experts agreed that a major hurdle to progress is the Department of Energy’s lack of credibility with nuclear waste right now. Registration and speaker information can be found here.
