Air Force Brig. Gen. Stephen Davis is taking over as the top military official in the National Nuclear Security Administration’s weapons program, replacing Brig. Gen. James Dawkins as the agency’s Principal Assistant Deputy Administrator for Military Application, the NNSA said Friday afternoon. Davis most recently served as the Assistant Deputy Director for Nuclear, Homeland Defense, and Current Operations on the Joint Staff, and previously commanded the 91st Missile Wing at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. “I have had the pleasure of knowing Brig. Gen. Davis since he was a Lieutenant and I have seen first-hand his commitment to excellence and service above self,” NNSA Administrator Frank Klotz said in a statement. “I am confident that he will excel as the senior uniformed officer in the Department of Energy.” Dawkins is taking over as the director of Strategic Capabilities Policy at the National Security Council.
