Candice Robertson, who formerly led the Department of Energy’s $8-billion nuclear cleanup branch, has taken an executive position with BWX Technologies, the company said Wednesday.
Along with Robertson, who led the DOE Office of Environmental Management for much of the past year, BWXT also announced former DOE and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) executive Linda Bauer is joining the management ranks of the company’s Technical Services Group.
Robertson, who took a federal buyout and left government service in March, will become the Technical Services Group’s deputy for environment, energy and new missions. Bauer will serve as deputy for nuclear security and laboratories.
Both new management hires will report to group president Heatherly Dukes, BWXT said in a Wednesday press release.
Robertson has more than 20 years of nuclear-related experience. In addition to holding several senior level posts in the DOE’s environmental remediation office, she has served as DOE’s chief human capital officer and senior staff for three energy deputy secretaries. Outside of DOE, she was chief of staff to Nuclear Regulatory Commissioner Bradley Crowell, BWXT said in the release.
Bauer has logged more than 30 years of experience in senior roles supporting DOE and NNSA. Most recently Bauer was a fellow at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in California on detail to NNSA as leader of its Enterprise Blueprint initiative. Before that, she was the deputy director of Livermore, and she held senior roles at the Y-12 National Security Complex, Pantex, and the Savannah River Site. Bauer was also a senior vice president for Los Alamos Technical Associates.
Robertson joined BWXT in April, according to a company spokesperson who said Bauer’s starts next week.
BWXT’s Technical Services Group primarily oversees the company’s DOE and NNSA joint ventures work. In the press release, Dukes heaped praise on the two management additions.
“A critical factor for sustainable success on long-term contracts for the Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration is attracting and retaining talented experts with sterling reputations,” Dukes said. “Linda and Candice have earned wide recognition throughout their careers for exemplifying highly effective technical and personal leadership traits,” said Dukes. “Over the last year we have significantly expanded our project portfolio with wins at Pantex, Hanford, West Valley and the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.”
