BWXT promotes Bender to chief digital officer

By ExchangeMonitor

Kurt Bender was appointed BWX Technologies senior vice president and chief digital officer, effective Feb. 5, the company said last week.

In the role, Bender will be responsible for BWXT’s digital strategy supporting operations in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. BWXT president and CEO Rex Geveden said the promotion comes as the company opened a new digital center in Melbourne, Fla, according to BWXT’s Feb. 5 press release.

Bender succeeds BWXT’s first chief digital officer, Omar Meguid, who was appointed in 2023, according to the release. Bender was most recently BWXT’s vice president of information technology (IT) applications, quality and continuous improvement.

Prior to Bender joining BWXT in 2023, he spent over 22 years working on digital work across aerospace, defense and technology companies, such as L3Harris Technologies and BAE Systems, according to the release.

“His [Bender] leadership is essential to building a culture of innovation and ensuring we deliver with the safety, speed, agility and excellence that have set us apart in the nuclear industry for more than 70 years,” Geveden said.
