Clarification

Proposed amendments to a federal appropriations package last week from Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), which did not get a vote, would have treated waste at the West Valley Demonstration Project in New York as defense-related only under the Nuclear Waste Policy Act of 1982, meaning the material would not be eligible for disposal at the Energy Department Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in New Mexico.

NEW: Via public records request, I’ve been able to confirm reporting today that a warrant has been issued for DOE deputy asst. secretary of spent fuel and waste disposition Sam Brinton for another luggage theft, this time at Las Vegas’s Harry Reid airport. (cc: @EMPublications)
