Consolidated Nuclear Security (CNS), the management and operating contractor for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Y-12 National Security Complex and the Pantex Plant, said Tuesday it surpassed its small business contracting goals for fiscal year 2016.
CNS awarded more than $276 million to small businesses across its two sites, 67 percent of all the funding it awarded, the company wrote in a press release. The amount represents more than $36 million above CNS’ fiscal 2015 levels.
The contractor said it purchased roughly $99 million in goods and services from more than 625 small businesses at Pantex, and $177 million from more than 770 small business suppliers at Y-12, for services including staff augmentation and construction support.
It said it also surpassed its goals in several socioeconomic categories: woman-owned small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, veteran-owned small businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned businesses, and Historically Underutilized Business Zone businesses.
