K & K Industries has won a $13.65 million contract to construct a weapons release system storage facility supporting the Air Force’s B-21 Raider program at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri.
The firm-fixed-price award, announced by the Defense Department Sept. 21, has a total cumulative face value of $14.99 million. Work will be performed in Knob Noster, Mo., with completion expected by March 31, 2028.
The Windsor, Mo.-based company was selected after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers solicited bids online and received three proposals. Fiscal 2026 military construction and defense-wide funds totaling $13.65 million were obligated at the time of the award.
The project will add to the infrastructure being developed at Whiteman as the base prepares for the B-21. The Missouri installation currently hosts the Air Force’s B-2 Spirit fleet and is expected to become the second operational B-21 base, following Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D. Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, is also slated to receive the aircraft.
The B-21, developed by Northrop Grumman, is the Air Force’s next-generation stealth bomber and is designed for both conventional and nuclear missions. It is expected to operate alongside the B-52 as the service modernizes its bomber fleet.
