Current waste treatment deals end in December

By ExchangeMonitor

The Department of Energy’s current orders for national low-level and mixed low-level commercial waste treatment are scheduled to expire Dec. 3, according to a DOE Office of Environmental Management website.

The nuclear cleanup office announced last week it has awarded five-year basic ordering agreements for five companies: EnergySolutions; Perma-Fix Environmental Services; Veolia Nuclear Solutions Federal Services; Waste Control Specialists along with NAC Philotechnics.

Of those five, it appears that Oak Ridge-headquartered NAC Philotechnics, affiliated with NAC International, is the only one without an existing basic ordering agreement with the DOE cleanup business.

“This award reflects our continued commitment to supporting the DOE’s mission of environmental cleanup and safe waste management,” NAC International CEO Kent Cole said in a Sept. 3 press release

One of the incumbent providers, Unitech Services Group, which has a corporate office in Massachusetts, was not chosen in the round of awards announced last week. That’s based on information from DOE’s Cincinnati-based Environmental Management Consolidated Business Center website.

Unitech Services Group’s current agreement was issued in August 2020. There was no guaranteed minimum dollar amount or volume of work outlined in the agreement. Such details were to be specified in any individual orders. The basic ordering agreements are used by DOE to help streamline certain procurement.
