The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers expects to issue a solicitation around Dec. 5 for a contractor to build a viewing platform at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Site in Tennessee.
In addition, the Nashville District of the U.S. Army Corps plans to hold a site visit Dec. 13 for prospective bidders on the National Historic Preservation Project to build a viewing platform and general-purpose building at the former K-25 gaseous diffusion plant footprint.
Then-DOE cleanup contractor URS-CH2M Oak Ridge (UCOR) finished building demolition on the site, now known as the East Tennessee Technology Park, in 2020.
The Corps announced the planned invitation to bid and site visit in a Friday notice on the government procurement website, SAM.gov.
The Army Corps signaled its intention to procure a small business to build the viewing platform in September.
The pre-bid site visit is tentatively set for 10 a.m. Eastern Time on Dec. 13 at 200 Heritage Center Blvd, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, according to the notice. Interested businesses should inspect the job site prior to submitting a bid.
Registration should be done by emailing the Army Corps two points of contact by 3 p.m. Central Time on Nov. 3. The contact people are Robert “Todd” Allman (Robert.T.Allman@usace.army.mil) and Dellaria Martin (Dellaria.L.Martin@usace.army.mil).
Full names, addresses and other data will be required for visit participants. All non-U.S. citizens, including permanent residents wishing to attend the site visit must be approved in advance.
The Army Corps expects construction will commence within 30 days of the contract award.
