Matthew Napoli, President Donald Trump’s pick for Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (DNN) at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), was sworn in Oct. 3 by Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.
Napoli announced the swearing in on his LinkedIn page Sunday.
“A special thank you to the incredible NNSA leadership team of Brandon Williams and Scott Pappano — and the President, Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, and Deputy Secretary of Energy James Danly — for their trust and confidence,” Napoli wrote. “DNN works globally to prevent state and non-state actors from developing nuclear weapons or acquiring weapons-usable nuclear or radiological materials, equipment, technology, and expertise. The team stands ready to meet these incredible challenges — prevent, counter, and respond!”
Napoli was confirmed, with Williams as NNSA administrator and Pappano as deputy administrator, last month in an en bloc vote in the Senate after waiting on the bench for several months after their first committee hearing.
Pappano also announced his new position on his LinkedIn last week. NNSA did not immediately confirm whether he was also sworn in or not.
