DOE ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF DRAFT RFP FOR PORTSMOUTH TECH. SERVICES CONTRACT

By ExchangeMonitor

The Department of Energy yesterday announced the release of the draft Request for Proposals for the new Portsmouth environmental technical services contract, though the actual document had not been posted online as of press time. The new contract is projected to be a cost-plus-award-fee-type that is set to run for up to eight years, consisting of a three-year base period and a one-time option of five years, DOE said yesterday. Previously, DOE has said that the contract would run for only five years, consisting of a three-year base period and a two-year option period.  The estimated cost and fee for the new contract is approximately $65 million, DOE said yesterday.

Services to be provided under the new contract, according to DOE, are set to include program management; planning and integration, environmental safety health and quality assurance; waste management; regulatory support; investment recovery; nuclear material disposition and safety; environmental restoration and regulatory compliance; D&D oversight and infrastructure support; technical and administrative support; and contract management. Comments on the draft RFP are due by July 13, and DOE currently anticipates issuing a final version in “late August.”
