The Department of Energy’s $8-billion Office of Environmental Management has selected David Brunnert  as its new chief operating officer.

California-based Black Knight is devoted to acquiring and developing valuable oil and gas properties in the lower 48 states, according to its website.

Like DOE Assistant Secretary of Environmental Management Tim Walsh, Brunnert holds a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. Brunnert also has an engineering degree from the University of Houston.

“Dave will lead strategic operations and mission-critical initiatives, leveraging his extensive experience in engineering, safety, and operations from the oil and gas industry,” the DOE cleanup office said in a news release on LinkedIn.

“I’m joining the DOE at an exciting time!” Brunnert said. “I look forward to working with [Energy] Secretary Wright and Tim Walsh to support the three pillars: 1) Ensure nuclear deterrence  2) Lead science and innovation and,  3) Drive American energy dominance.”
