Preparing for the transition of cleanup work at Los Alamos National Laboratory to the Office of Environmental Management, the Department of Energy this week posted a new position for the Manager of the Environmental Management Los Alamos Office. Last fall DOE announced that it would transfer the management of LANL legacy cleanup work from the National Nuclear Security Administration to EM and set up a new EM field office at the site. “The vacancy announcement was posted early in this transition period to help expedite the recruitment and selection of a highly qualified permanent manager to oversee the EM cleanup work at Los Alamos. There are many more steps in the transition and we look forward to working with you to make it successful,” NNSA Los Alamos Field Office Manager Kim Davis Lebak said in a message Monday to employees.
The job posting will be open until March 16. “The Manager’s EM program support responsibility comprises coordination between the EM Headquarters Program elements the EM-LA Field Office, The National Nuclear Security Administration, and LANL to establish and implement Field Office – specific policies, plans, and procedures,” the posting states. “He/She provides overall direction and leadership of EM-LA and EM scope/activities performed by the site contractor (s) and subcontractors. The Manager serves as the EM Senor Executive and authorization/approval authority for all nuclear operations and safety bases.”
