DOE Provides Additional $1.7 Million For American Centrifuge

By ExchangeMonitor

The Department of Energy over the weekend provided an additional $1.7 million USEC to continue work on the American Centrifuge Project under a subcontract with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, bringing total funding so far up to $13.5 million, according to a USEC financial filing. Currently USEC’s American Centrifuge project is under a new 18-month DOE-funded management by Oak Ridge National Laboratory under a contract that began in May and is expected to amount to $33.7 million this fiscal year. DOE provided funding to the program in two earlier incremental actions—$6.7 million on May 1 to fund the first month and $5 million on May 30. The latest agreement signed on June 21 will fund the program for approximately one week.
