With the path forward for the award of a new contract to provide support services for the Department of Energy’s Office of Legacy Management unclear, and incumbent S.M. Stoller’s current contract set to expire in a week, DOE is staying quiet on its plans for keeping Stoller in place while it completes the award of the follow-on contract. DOE has not responded to multiple requests for comment on its plans for providing Stoller with another extension to its current contract, now set to expire June 30. Stoller’s contract was initially set to expire in September 2012, but DOE has provided several extensions due to the time it has taken so far to attempt to award the follow-on LM support contract.
Most recently, the Government Accountability Office has called on DOE to re-evaluate two bids submitted for the contract—by Portage and Navarro Research and Engineering. The recommendation came in response to a protest Navarro filed over DOE’s decision to award Portage the new contract, estimated to be worth approximately $250 million—a protest the GAO chose to sustain. DOE has also stayed largely silent on its plans for moving forward with a new award decision.
