DOE RELEASES RFP FOR LOW-LEVEL WASTE DISPOSAL

By ExchangeMonitor

The Department of Energy yesterday issued its final Request for Proposals for disposal of low-level radioactive waste across the complex. DOE plans to award one or more five-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contracts. “Each ID/IQ contract will be for multiple selected types of waste and more than one contractor may receive a contract for permanent disposal of a specific waste type,” DOE wrote in a notice yesterday. “The maximum quantity will be based upon the maximum quantity specified for each type of waste.”

The final RFP covers disposal for Class A, B and C Low-Level Waste (LLW), and Class A, B and C Mixed-Low-Level Waste (MLLW), 11e(2) byproduct material, Technology Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (TENORM), and sealed sources. The Final RFP is available here.
