The Department of Energy appears to need more time than previously planned to complete the evaluation of bids for the new Office of Legacy Management support services contract. In a letter sent to bidders late last week, DOE asked companies to extend their proposals through April 9, 2013. The one-page letter did not provide any details as to why the additional time is needed.
The new Legacy Management support services contract, which has been set-aside for small businesses, is set to be a cost-plus-award-fee-type with task assignments. The contract is anticipated to run for up to five years consisting of a 24-month base period and one 36-month option period. The incumbent is S.M. Stoller, whose contract is currently set to expire in September. Among those believed to have bid on the new contract are Wastren Advantage with Stoller, as Stoller no longer meets the criteria for being a small business; RSI; Navarro Research and Engineering, North Wind; Performance Results Corporation; and Portage. Bids were submitted in mid-February.
