DOE SET TO RELEASE OAK RIDGE PRO FORCE RFP FRIDAY

By ExchangeMonitor
The Department of Energy appears to be on track to release a new Request for Proposals Friday for its stripped down Oak Ridge protective force contract. The agency yesterday released questions and answers on its draft performance work statement, signaling that there are no delays to plans to release the RFP on Friday. The majority of the questions from potential bidders focused on the use of Oak Ridge’s Central Training Facility, which will be managed separately from the Oak Ridge protective force contract by the Y-12/Pantex management and operating contractor. DOE clarified that Oak Ridge guards will still train at the facility, but the Oak Ridge security contractor will still have to come up with its own training program. DOE had planned to include protective force work at Y-12 and Pantex along with other Oak Ridge security work, but scaled back the contract in the wake of the July 28 security breach at Y-12.
