DOE TO ISSUE LLW DISPOSAL RFP IN 15-30 DAYS

By ExchangeMonitor

The Department of Energy said yesterday that within a month it will issue the final Request for Proposals for disposal of low-level radioactive waste across the complex. In a pre-solicitation notice, DOE said it plans to award one or more five-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contracts. “Each IDIQ contract will be for multiple selected types of waste and more than one contractor may receive a contract for permanent disposal of a specific waste type,” DOE wrote in the notice. “The maximum quantity will be based upon the maximum quantity specified for each type of waste.”

The final RFP will be issued within 15-30 days, and will cover disposal for Class A, B and C Low-Level Waste (LLW), and Class A, B and C Mixed-Low-Level Waste (MLLW), 11e(2) byproduct material, Technology Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (TENORM), and sealed sources. The Final RFP will be released to the public through FEDCONNECT.NET and will be available on the LLW/MLLW Disposal procurement web site here.
