DOE vet Ted Garrish tapped by Trump to lead nuclear energy office

By ExchangeMonitor

President Donald Trump has nominated a veteran federal executive Theodore (Ted) Garrish to be the Department of Energy’s assistant secretary for nuclear energy.

Garrish has been assistant secretary for nuclear power previously, and has generally been a fixture around DOE and the nuclear energy circuit for more than three decades, according to his bio. His LinkedIn page currently lists him as a senior adviser to the secretary of energy.

The position requires confirmation by the full Senate. Garrish has also been part of the DOE transition team for the second Trump administration.

Posts Garrish has held over the years include assistant secretary for DOE’s Office of International Affairs, DOE general counsel and assistant secretary for congressional, intergovernmental and public affairs, according to his bio. Garrish also logged time as a federal inspector of the Alaska natural gas transportation system.  In the private sector, he worked with U.S. companies on nuclear export controls.

Trump formally nominated Garrish Monday and the nomination was referred to the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee.
