EnergySec packs his bags for Hanford, Pacific Northwest Lab

By ExchangeMonitor

Secretary of Energy Chris Wright is scheduled to visit the Department of Energy’s Hanford Site as well as the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory this week.

That is according to an advisory released by the DOE communications office late Tuesday.

The schedule shows Wright visiting the Ice Harbor Dam in Burbank, Wash., and answering questions from local reporters. A subsequent press availability is also scheduled Thursday afternoon at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory near the Hanford Site.

At the laboratory, Wright could make remarks on President Donald Trump’s Genesis Mission to accelerate artificial intelligence for military purposes.

On Friday, Dec. 5, Secretary Wright will visit the DOE’s Hanford Site at Richland, Wash. The document did not provide specifics on the Friday visit to Hanford. It would mark Wright’s first visit to the former plutonium production site since the Waste Treatment Plant there started solidifying some of the less-radioactive waste into glass. That started Oct. 10.
