Environmental services provider US Ecology on Monday announced the departure of a senior executive.
Mario Romero, executive vice president of operations for field and industrial services, is resigning as of Aug. 5 in order to “pursue other opportunities and his decision was not due to any disagreement with the Company on any matter relating to the Company’s operations, policies or practices,” according to US Ecology’s latest 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Simon Bell, US Ecology’s executive vice president of operations for environmental services, will take over Romero’s work under the title of executive vice president of operations.
Romero has worked for a number of businesses in over three decades in the environmental, energy, and industrial services services sectors, according to his company biography. That included a stint as vice president of operations for EQ — The Environmental Quality Company, which US Ecology bought in 2014.
Bell has been with US Ecology since 2001, currently leading management of the company’s hazardous, nonhazardous, and radioactive waste treatment and disposal facilities across North America.
US Ecology did not respond Tuesday to a request for more information regarding Romero’s departure.
The company’s environmental services offerings include disposal of Class A ,B, and C low-level radioactive waste; radium, beryllium, and other sealed sources; and high-activity radium waste. US Ecology is scheduled to release its second-quarter 2016 earnings after market close on Thursday, July 28.
