Dallas-based Fluor, one of the major contractors for the Energy Department’s Office of Environmental Management, will hold its fourth-quarter earnings call at 5:30 p.m. Eastern today.
Then, on Thursday, Montreal-based SNC-Lavalin will release its latest quarterly earnings report and host its own investor conference call.
Fluor will issue its results shortly after the market closes on Tuesday. In November, the international construction and engineering firm reported third-quarter net earnings of $94 million, or $0.67 a share, compared with just shy of $5 million, or $0.03 a share, during the third quarter of 2016.
Fluor is a partner with BWX Technologies for decontamination and decommissioning at the Portsmouth Site in Piketon, Ohio, under a 10-year deal potentially worth more than $2.5 billion through 2021. In 2016, Fluor took over remediation at the Idaho Cleanup site under a five-year contract worth $1.4 billion. The company, along with Honeywell and Stoller Newport News Nuclear, is also part of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions: the management and operations contractor for the Savannah River Site in South Carolina.
Meanwhile, international engineering and design firm SNC-Lavalin will report its fourth-quarter earnings before the market opens Thursday morning, then host its quarterly earnings call at 3 p.m. that day.
Last summer, SNC-Lavalin completed its purchase of British engineering firm WS Atkins. The merger gave SNC a significant foothold in the DOE nuclear cleanup business, including as a partner with AECOM in tank-waste contractor Washington River Protection Solutions at the Hanford Site in Washington state. Atkins, together with partners Westinghouse and Fluor, was chosen by DOE last year to run depleted uranium hexafluoride (DUF6) conversion facilities in Kentucky and Ohio. That agreement represents a five-year, $318-million value for the joint venture.
In November, SNC-Lavalin reported third-quarter 2017 earnings of $103.6 million, or $.059 a share. That is compared with $43.3 million, or $0.29 a share, in the same period of 2016.
