Jeff Avery, a longtime federal executive within the Department of Energy’s nuclear complex, has accepted a vice president’s post with Westinghouse Electric, Avery said this week on his LinkedIn page.
“I’m excited to share that I’ve joined Westinghouse Electric Company as vice president, Chief Operating & Administrative Officer for Westinghouse Government Services,” Avery said Monday via LinkedIn. “In this role, I will work alongside senior leadership to deliver industry-leading nuclear technology services to our federal customers.”
Avery, who has held senior positions at both the DOE Office of Environmental Management and the semiautonomous National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), said he was excited to join Westinghouse after 29 years “in the U.S. nuclear security enterprise.”
“I’ll be working with Richard Rademacher, President & CEO of Westinghouse Government Services, across a range of missions including nuclear deterrence, environmental cleanup, naval nuclear propulsion, and advanced reactor development,” Avery said.
From his LinkedIn bio, it appears Avery left government service in March. His last big federal job was NNSA’s acting associate administrator for management and budget, a job he held between January and March. Avery was second in command at Environmental Management, DOE’s nuclear cleanup office, for a little more than two years. Avery also spent 26 years with the DOE’s Office of Naval Reactors.
Avery holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in Indiana as well as business-related master’s degrees from Indiana University as well as Old Dominion University in Virginia.
