The Department of Energy’s prime contractor at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina has turned to a former DOE executive with more than 35 years in nuclear management to succeed its retiring CEO.
Flour-led Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) Friday announced Jeff Griffin, a senior vice president, has been picked to succeed Dennis Carr as president and CEO.
Carr is resurfacing in September as CEO of a BWX Technologies-led group that would manage and operate Canadian National Laboratories.
Griffin becomes the second new CEO announced at a major Savannah River Site contractor in recent weeks. Last month, BWXT-led Savannah River Mission Completion, the environmental prime, announced Thomas Burns, Jr. will take over from the retiring Dave Olson.
Since May 2024, Griffin has been senior vice president at SRNS, the management and operations contractor, for the 310-mile square complex near Aiken, S.C.
Before coming to SRNS, Griffin was a vice president for Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, and led field operations for DOE’s Office of Environmental Management as the associate principal deputy assistant secretary. Griffin also worked in various management roles over the years at the Savannah River National Laboratory.
Carr, a 44-year industry veteran, recently announced his retirement from SRNS in early June. Carr has led SNRS for about seven years and served in multiple executive positions for Fluor across the DOE complex, having worked at Savannah River, the Portsmouth Site and Fernald.
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions announced the appointment in a Friday news release.
Carr retired this month, according to his LinkedIn page.
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions has held the site’s multi-billion-dollar operations contract since 2008. Its current extension runs into 2027.
