Dan Hoag has been named the acting manager of the Y-12 Site Office and will remain as the top federal official at Y-12 through the transition to a consolidated production office with Pantex next year, the NNSA said in an internal announcement Friday. Hoag replaces Ted Sherry, who announced earlier this year that he was retiring Dec. 31. Hoag has served as the Y-12 Site Office’s deputy manager since March, and he previously oversaw major projects at Y-12, including the Uranium Processing Facility, as the site office’s Senior Project Director. “Given Dan’s tremendous breadth of knowledge and expertise of Y-12 activities, I have full confidence in his ability to serve as Acting Manager during this critical time,” Phil Calbos, NNSA’s Principal Assistant Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs, said in a message to NNSA employees Friday. “He has the experience and ability to fully and effectively lead YSO through the upcoming transition while continuing to manage NNSA’s oversight of all aspects of operations at the Y-12 National Security Complex.”
Hoag will begin work as the acting director today. An announcement about his replacement as deputy director is expected soon, according to NNSA officials.
