Holtec International has landed a Taiwan Power Co. contract to build indoor dry spent fuel storage facilities at both the Chinshan and Kuosheng plant sites, Holtec said Monday.
The work at these four boiling water reactor (BWR) units bring Holtec’s global dry storage client roster to 155 worldwide, according to Holtec’s Monday press release.
“This award marks one of the most significant spent-fuel storage procurements in the Asia-Pacific region and reaffirms the long-standing cooperation between Holtec and TPC that began more than 35 years ago with pioneering in-pool storage projects,” Holtec said in the release.
The Holtec release did not reveal a contract price.
Holtec will design and build dry storage facilities at each of the two sites and provide commissioning services, according to the release. The facilities will be licensed by Taiwan’s environmental and nuclear agencies.
